Tie This Fly
Try this midge pupa pattern either fished deep under a strike indicator or shallow under a Griffis gnat and you might be amazed. This pattern is responsible for MANY big rainbows on the Missouri River.

Hook: Daiichi 1140, size 18
Thread: 8/0 black Body: taper with black thread from rear of hook to silver bead
Ribbing: small silver wire

Note: While this pattern works well and is super simple to tie, I like to dub the body using Hareline's Ice Dub in peacock color. Very important: keep the body THIN. Ignore this fly if you think it's too simple, but this pattern has been a killer with big, tough fish.
