Montana fly fishing. It can be as good as your wildest fly fishing dream or, it can be disappointing. Selecting the right fly fishing outfitter will help ensure that your Montana fly fishing vacation is a success. I offer you Montana fly fishing that will satisfy your expectations. I have lived, fly fished and guided in Montana for 30 years and have fly fished throughout Montana. I've found that the rich variety of trout waters in the Helena area provides the finest fly fishing in Montana.
No one will work harder to help make sure you have a successful Montana fly fishing experience. I know the rivers, the guides, the lodging, the hatches, the best flies, the right equipment, and the seasons on all of the rivers of this part of Montana. I use that knowledge to help you put together a great flyfishing vacation tailored to your dreams. I am grateful that more than 75% of my business is from repeat clientele.
The Missouri River between Helena and Great Falls, a fabulously productive tailwater stream, is the heart of our flyfishing expeditions. Al Caucci, author of "Hatches", "Hatches II", and numerous magazine articles, calls it one of the best three rivers in the United States. Michael Fong, owner and publisher of "Inside Angler" and author of many magazine articles called it "dry fly Mecca" in a national flyfishing magazine article. The river holds about 5,000 catchable-size fish per mile, mostly rainbows-and they are big, strong, hard fighting fish.
The Blackfoot River is a well-known fly fishing stream featured in Robert Redford's "A River Runs Through It". We fish the canyon stretch of the Blackfoot River-not only a beautiful float but also it's a good river to catch cutthroat trout with dry flies. It also holds rainbows, cuttbows, browns and bull trout.
Wade fishing the Smith River canyon is one of the most spectacular fishing experiences you will find anywhere. The scenery is gorgeous and the river is perhaps the best hopper-fishing river I have seen.
We fish other rivers and creeks that are lesser known but will get you away from other flyfishers and provide good fishing as well.
While I do much of the guiding for you I also hire friendly, expert, local guides to work with me. The guide can make or break your fly fishing day so I employ only the very best local guides (and I know them all). You will not find better guides.
Take a look at my web site and then please call or email me if you'd like more information or want to book a trip. Clients tell me that my free video provided them a very good idea of what the fly fishing is like in this area and I'd be happy to send you one.
Years ago when I first started guiding I worried whether my clients would enjoy their flyfishing experience-now I feel excitement at my opportunity to share with you some of the best fly fishing in the world.
